A Mind Blowing Truth About the Power of Your Words
There’s an old saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but your WORDS will never hurt me.”
That couldn't be further from the truth!
In the 1950’s, there was a very controversial preacher named Norman Vincent Peale in New York City. He espoused a theology of “Positive Thinking”, “Positive Words”, and “Positive Living.”
The USA had just come out of War World II. There were underground Civil movements and a looming baby boom from all the veterans returning home. Many serious problems to be concerned and major policy issues to address in the society. Albeit, there was a short, unassuming, softly spoken preacher, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, discussing how important it is to keep our thoughts and words positive.
His book, The Power of Positive Thinking, stayed on the New York Times Best Seller’s List for 186 consecutive weeks. He was the counselor to numerous celebrities, USA Presidents, and everyday citizens.
His writings and work were constantly under scrutiny.
How could someone scientifically prove that speaking and thinking “Positively” could have a major impact on one’s well being?
At the time, there was no way to prove this theory scientifically or conduct unbiased adjudicated studies that could be praised by scientific journals.
